Passwords Pro is a Windows application for additional protection of directories and files. You can set a password and customize the access mode - read, edit and so on. There is integration with the context menu, which allows you to perform basic operations without launching the main interface.

Protection

To configure file locking, you need to open the application and select the Lock folders option in the main window. In response, you will be prompted to add a new folder, you need to specify the correct path in the file manager. Next, you need to specify a password for access. For especially important files it is recommended to use a set containing numbers, service characters and letters with different case. The length should not be less than 6 characters. This format provides a sufficient level of protection against classic bruteforcing. A separate field allows you to add a hint. It will allow you to remember the combination. After checking all the parameters, it is necessary to confirm the activation of the protected mode. When trying to open such a folder, an additional request to enter the correct password is displayed. It is worth taking into account that the lock is preserved when starting the system in safe mode and copying the object to another PC. Additional tools are also useless in this situation.

Unlocking

If you need to remove the password, you need to run the Unlock folders function. In response to the request, simply specify the directories for which you want to change the access mode. To confirm the changes, you will need to specify the correct password.
