Metasequoia

Metasequoia is a Windows application for editing 3D objects. All necessary tools for drawing and sweeping models are available. The animation creation function is built in. Python scripts can be integrated to extend the functionality.

Modeling

The main tools are collected on the panel located on the left side. There is a selection of simple geometric shapes that you can use in your projects. There is a mode of creating models based on polygons. You can specify a set of reference points, by which the program will automatically generate the desired object. In the settings you can specify the data to be displayed. There is a separate panel for creating animated characters. The work is performed in the wizard mode and does not require serious skills. It is enough to select a character, specify the bending points and specify the parameters of the movement of body parts. The rest of the work will be done by the built-in algorithm. After viewing the result, the parameters can be immediately corrected.

Unfolding

If it is necessary to export the model for use in third-party programs, it is necessary to make a full sweep to the plane beforehand. For this purpose UV mode is used, which automatically performs all necessary operations. It is also possible to switch to manual mode, which can be used by experienced users. The application works correctly with all common today formats for generating 3D-objects. This expands the scope of use and allows you to prepare layouts for machines of different types.
