ScanTool

ScanTool is a special program that provides car diagnostics using "ELM327 adapter". This software is distributed free of charge, unlike many analogs. The graphical shell of the program is more suitable for specialists in electronics. The program allows you to read error codes from the ECU of vehicles. If necessary, you can disable the "Check Engine" indicator. ScanTool, unlike its analogs, does not work only with "branded" OBD-II dongle. It must be purchased at an average price from the original developer. The program supports the functions of inexpensive ELM327 adapters, which are created in China. This software provides high accuracy during the processing of data from the car ECU. The program has restrictions on diagnostics of some car models.

Functions

The main function of the program is to deactivate the "Check Engine" indicator, which shows technical problems with the vehicle. The creators of the equipment do not advise to deactivate the indicator through the software. By deactivating it through the program functions, you risk breaking the equipment. Like many analogs for diagnostics, ScanTool reads data from electronic control units of the car. The program generates a list of error codes, deciphering their values. Then ScanTool displays the errors in the engine revolutions when there is a load on it. In the new version of the program you can scan the temperature for coolant and other "consumables", as well as see all the indicators in a separate list. The program also checks the authenticity of the tested adapter.

Technical information

ScanTool diagnostic utility does not require the purchase of special extensions and is available for free download. The graphical shell and help with error codes are displayed in Russian. You do not need to install this program, because it is created in portable mode and does not require unpacking files on your computer's hard drive. This software can be run on different OS Windows builds.
