SAMInside

SAMInside is a Windows application for recovering passwords from user or administrator system accounts. Several schemes are used, including built-in dictionary search, full brute force or rainbow tables. It is possible to download files with LCS, HDT or LCP extension that can be used for searching keys.

Working principle

The application works in portable mode, without installation into the system. It can be launched from an external drive. To start the process, you need to select the desired account from the list and activate the corresponding menu item. It is possible to load additional information from a file. To load information about the local user, data from the LSASS module are used. It is also possible to specify the information manually. For this purpose it is enough to load a string with LM or NT hash.

Password search

At the initial stage there is an option to specify the type of attack. One of the options is to search all available variants with the specified length and character set. The utility is written in assembler, which provides a fairly high speed of operation. It also allowed to optimize the load on the CPU. However, it should be taken into account that the number of variants can be large, so scanning will take some time. There are tools for attacks based on rainbow tables - this scheme is very effective and has been used for quite a long time. In this case, hash sum analysis is used to calculate the password. In case of success, the data for authorization will be displayed in the form of a convenient list, it is possible to save them to a file.
