Wickr

Wickr is a messenger for Windows, the main feature is the use of tools for data protection. All information is transmitted in encrypted form, ECDH521 and AES256 standards are supported. Correspondence is not saved on an external server, information about the current location of the user is also not collected. This reliably protects against data leaks, which occasionally occur even with large corporations.

Security and privacy

While sending a message or file, there is an option to specify the life period of the information, after which it will be automatically deleted from both devices. Sending a video or photo automatically deletes all metadata and geolocation data. Service information often allows you to determine the user's location and other information quite accurately. An encrypted channel is used for data transmission, which provides protection from third-party interference. When creating an account, it is not necessary to use a phone number as an identifier, which also complicates identification. The utility completely blocks the ability to take a screenshot of the received message. To improve security, the developers also decided to refuse the use of additional stickers and other content. Advertising blocks are also not used.

Communicating and working with files

To start a dialog you need to add a person to the list of contacts. You can search by phone number, mail or ID. You can attach various files to text messages, including PDF documents. There is a simple image editor. You can quickly add text or cut out an area. Files can be downloaded from a local disk or network directory.
