HEIF

HEIF is a Windows application for opening images with appropriate extension. It is implemented as a plug-in, its own graphical interface is not used.

Format properties

The HEIF standard allows using a special virtual container for storing images as separate files or a sequence of them. The special storage structure allows to provide high image quality while reducing the space occupied. This advantage is actively used in the professional sphere for storing high-definition images. It is possible to store additional information that is used during processing. This provides more opportunities in the editing process and reduces the loss of quality that is inevitable in the process of various transformations. This is important in many applications where large formats and high resolutions are used. It supports 16-bit color scheme and transparency channel. Photos with this extension can be easily converted to other formats without loss of quality. In addition to graphic content, the standard allows storing other types of data, such as audio and synchronized text. In this case, additional tools and high efficiency of data storage regardless of type are also provided.

Installation

Once the extension is installed, no additional customizations are required. The plug-in is integrated into a third-party application, allowing it to fully work with images. The ability to open and edit metadata is also provided.
