Silhouette Studio

Silhouette Studio is a Windows utility for designing patterns for cutting plotters. The program is developed by an Austrian company and requires proprietary hardware. It is possible to change the settings for the operation of the devices.

Getting started

The first thing a person will need to do is to create a new project. After that, the computer program will offer to choose the type of future layout. These include:

• Sketch;
• Map;
• Point template;
• Blank Project;
• Cutting and Printing;
• Stamp;
• Gift Tags;
• Embossing;
• PixScan.

The selected layout type affects the starting settings of the working area in the editor. The user can change them if desired. After selecting the desired template, the user can start working on his project. During the development process it is possible to add and modify objects. The editor has a built-in functionality for creating arbitrary shapes. Thanks to this, a person can draw an object of the shape he needs. Also in the designer there is a panel with various tools. They can be found on the left side of the interface.

Cutting and saving

After completing a project, a user can transfer the information to a Silhouette plotter. To make this possible, a person needs to connect the device to a laptop or personal computer and download a special driver. Then it will be possible to transfer the data to the equipment. The user can save the final template in one of the following formats: JPEG, PNG and BMP. After that, the file can be opened in any computer utility that supports viewing content in the previously specified formats.
